1 English Learners' Corner - Learning by doing

Thats a nice story. I have this book too since few weeks and i must read it now very fast. On which side is this story? Yes this book is very good but til this day i have looking only the funny pictures and haven't read the whole book.

@all: I won't be able to comment on everything here (seeing how fast the postings keep coming). But when I spot some obvious mistakes I will try and let you know. Is it ok to do it openly or would you prefer a personal message? I don't want to be regarded as "the teacher" or appear to be superior (I still make mistakes myself from time to time) and keep you from trying! It's just an offer as some of you asked for it. And I also hope I'm not alone in here - there are quite a few people around whose English is at least just as good and who can assist you, too.

I know teachers are normal human beings, here on board as normal as Riggies can be <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Winken" /> , and are always very busy in preparing the next lessons, planing trips with their pupils etc.
I didn´t mean you should proof-reads everything. But when you see a big error in what I wrote, you may write it here, maybe it´s also interesting for the other learners.

I mean it´s great, when the better ones will give a helping hand to those like me, who try to become better. So be not afraid to give your comments or hints for corrections.

@Lucarda: That's what I'll do then, thanks. I also think it can be quite helpful to write openly about mistakes as some of them are very typical for learners.

I have a very nice example for such a typical mistake which shows the difference between "get" and "become". I always tell the story about the man who walks into a restaurant and says: "I become a beefsteak". My pupils make a lot of mistakes, but they certainly don't make this one anymore! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Winken" />

Btw: it should be "where are you from" and "where I live" (life is the noun, live is the verb)
