"Thank you so much. I think it's been a month now, been about a month since the last time we played Glasgow, and after we finished playing the following day, I got to read this really glowing review of our concert. It glowed it glowed like a coal fire that hadn't been attended to for about 3 weeks. So I think it's only fair, that tonight, that I put out a few disclaimers in case there's anybody else getting ready to right something similar.
First of all, on behalf of the entire band, I would like to apologise for the way we dress. On behalf of my barber, I would like to apologise for the way he cuts my hair. And probably most importantly I'd like to apologise for uhmm, the way I sing with a Celtic lilt in my voice.
You see, coming from where I come from, Cape Breton, was once populated by oh about, 80 percent populated by highland scots, and I think there are a few of them still hanging around. There's about 17 pages of MacDonalds in the phone book. Cape Breton is like the Celtic hotbed for Celtic Music in Canada, so I can't for the life of me figure out where I got this Celtic lilt in my voice.
And my, ehh, my great grandmother on my father's side, who spoke more Gaelic than she did English, had a wonderful expression, Gaelic expression for people like the person that wrote glowing article. Pòg mo thòin."

für die Teilnehmer am Englischkurs:

A man walks into a bar with an malcom, sits the creature down on a stool and announces "This is a very special malcom - it can play any musical instrument in the world!" the whole bar laughs at him.
"OK, I´ll wager $ 50 with anyone who can find an instrument he can´t play." A guy comes up with an elektric guitar and the malcom proceeds to play like Hendrix.
Than another comes up with a trumpet and the malcom plays like Louis Armstrong.
After a few more instruments, a Scot comes up with a set of bagpipes. The malcom grapples with pipes and then sits down looking a bit confused. The Scot is delighted. "Ha, he cannae play ´em - gi´us ma fifty quid!
The malcom looks up at the Scot and says "Play them? I´m gonna f*** them as soon an I can figure out how to get these stupid tratan pyjamas off!!!" <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_redface.gif" alt=":oops:" title="Verlegen" />

Vielen Dank das du mir die ganze Ansprache aufgeschrieben hast. ( Habe die hier im Zitat aber fast gelöscht.) Das übersetzen dauert dann doch einige Minuten. Ich habe auf einer Seite gelesen da stand das über diese Ansprache auf der CD aber alles auf Deutsch. Also das war ein Bericht oder so wo drin stand das Bruce Oma gälisch sprach und er dann am Schluss sagte: Leck mich am Arsch. Dort war aber dieses Pòg mo thòin so geschrieben wie er es sprach. Ich denke mal das es der gleiche Ausdruck war weil ja von dieser Ansprache die Rede war. Müsste mal gucken ob ich den Link noch habe dann kann ich ihn dir geben.

Da steht auch das das gälische Leck mich am Arsch sinngemäß heißt. Ich finde die Seite nicht mehr wo das mit der Ansprache auch drin stand aber hier wirds ja auch nochmal übersetzt.

Vielen Dank nochmal für die ganze Ansprache. Hab sie auch soweit jetzt verstanden nur 2 Wörter weis ich nicht in Deutsch. Und zwar was heißt: similar und apologise? Wäre nett wenn mir das jemand sagen kann. Sinngemäß hab ich ja die Ansprache verstanden aber wäre schöner wenn ich die 2 Wörter auch noch verstehe. to apologize: sich entschuldigen, sich verteidigen

aber ist schon wahr, ein wort falsch verstanden und schwupps ist der ganze sinn weg. wäre schade für die mühe, wenn´s denn dann umsonst gewesen wäre.
