Articel aus MetroExpress in Dänemark. Hier ist aber die Übersetzung in Englisch.

Because life is beautiful
The Canadian singer Bruce Guthro has found peace and confidence in
Denmark. That's why he's releasing his first solo album outside Canada
with a litte Danish record company. Bruce Guthro's solo album "Beautiful
life" is to be first released in Denmark but is expected to be released in
selected countries in the rest of the world later in the year.

After two solo albums released by the international record company EMI the
45 year old Canadian song writer Bruce Guthro has chosen the little record
company RecArt from Aarhus for his solo project "Beautiful Life" which was
released October 3rd.

"After having banged heads with the people from EMI for a long time, I got
an offer from RecArt which suited me fine. They believed in me and my
music, and that's important. I would much rather be an important artist
with a small company than a dwarf with an international company", says
Bruce Guthro.

The name Guthro doesn't mean a lot to most people. But if you mention that
Bruce Guthro has, since 1998, been the lead singer with the Scottish folk
rock band Runrig it will dawn for most people. A popular band which can
shake up even the most dull Danish Summer festival.

Conversely the "Beautiful Life" album is subdued in it's style. Bruce
Guthro follows in the wake of the popular North American songwriters such
as Norah Jones and Jamie Cullum. Soft narrative songs which are more
suitable for a good dinner than a night on the town.

Even Bruce Guthro doesn't much like to stick a label on his music. "I
think it's difficult to categorize the record. But that's the way it is
with me - and for the most Canadian songwriters for that matter. There is
pop, jazz and maybe even that James Taylorish feeling. The record crosses
borders, and that's fine with me. I haven't looked for a signature piece,
but I just wanted to make a good record", says Guthro.

The otherwise relaxed and open minded father with 2 children aged 11 and
14 and a wife at home in Nova Scotia, Canada, becomes firm when the talk
is about the songs content. He demands a particular audience who make up
their mind about what he does, and he insists on being listened to.

"I try to tell about the world, as it is. In a realistic but positive tone
without plastering it all in sugar. Life is beautiful" he says. "But there
is so much thoughtless music out there. A lot of rubbish and garbage.
That's it. And if I meet my aim, it's up to the audience to decide. But
at least I tried" says Bruce Guthro.

He mentions the title number "Beautiful Life" as an example of his
outlook. "It gives a vivid description of the world as a scary place, but
if people hold themselves together, then it will be alright" he says.

Apart from Bruce Guthro's seven years as the lead singer with Runrig, his
is a musical career cut from the script for hard tested musicians. After
years of growing up on the poor Canadian East Coast Guthro had to drag
himself through badly paid jobs such as in an uranium miner, construction
worker and as a buyer of salmon in order to finance his music. From small,
shabby clubs he has worked his way up to a gold record worthy national
career before Runrig phoned him seven years ago.

Since then he has balanced his two careers between solo time in Canada and
time with Runrig in Europe. A balance which now, with "Beautiful life",
will be tested, when for the first time he releases a solo album outside
Canada.
