RUNRIG ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THE FINAL ADDITION TO THEIR FAREWELL TOUR
Today, it was announced that Runrig would become the UK's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, which this year takes place in Portugal on 12th May.
Speaking to media during a press conference, drummer Iain Bayne indicated that the band always had their sights set on taking to the stage at the contest. "Well, of course, there's been a plethora of great acts to represent Englan- sorry I mean the UK at Eurovision over the years. Lately, it's been a little lacklustre and we're really hoping to bring the wow factor back to the competition."
Bassist and founding member Rory Macdonald added "We'd really been struggling to decide which venues were appropriate to play our final shows at. Why we didn't decide on Eurovision sooner is a bit of a mystery. Nothing is more 'Runrig' than Eurovision. Nothing."
Keyboardist Brian Hurren couldn't contain his excitement. "Ever since I was a wee boy I've taped Eurovision on the telly and watched it every night until the next one. I buy 7 Cliff Richard calendars every year so I'm really excited about being able to say I'm the latest in a long line of artistic geniuses to fly the flag for the UK."
Bruce Guthro, a new member of the band joining in 1998, finished the press conference with a teaser of what fans can expect to see. "I've talked before about getting drunk and taking my clothes off onstage and I've never followed through on that promise. Time is running out and I don't think there's a more apt stage to go through with it than one with millions of people watching. The hat stays though."
Calum Macdonald and Malcolm Jones were absent from the press conference and couldn't be reached for comment. Rumours are circulating that they are traveling the world in search of the perfect lycra jumpsuits for the performance. Tune in to find out.
Mein Videorekorder ist programmiert. )
Besonders freue ich mich auf die 70er Jahre Anzüge von Calum und Malcolm.
Zu Bruce fällt mir nur der Cocker Song "You Can Leave Your Hat On" ein.
